CTA Update & Our Recent Favorite Games

Obviously, we just posted some new updates to the site.  Does that mean we’re back?  Not really.  Sorry if we got your hopes up.  As we’ve noted before, we’ll still be posting updates as we have time.  We actually had the latest posts sitting in the reserves… we hope you enjoy them.  Some great games for the iPhone and iPod Touch have come out in the last month that we really want to mention… quickly.  We’ll be working on full reviews for them later.

Fieldrunners – It’s a tower-based strategy game that we literally cannot stop playing.  The first update/bug fix for the app came out yesterday so check it out.  You’ll get addicted, so make sure you have time.

Frenzic – Anyone remember this from when it was a webapp?  We do.  It was great then and is even better now that it’s running on the Cocoa Touch platform natively.  Take a look.

Fastlane Street Racing – It’s the best racing game we’ve played on the CT platform yet!  Definitely can keep your interest with different game modes and plenty to do within each.

None of these games are free… in fact they’re all $4.99 – $5.99 but we will definitely say that each and everyone one of them is worth the money.  Check back for full reviews soon!

As noted before, if you think you have the guts to write for us, just let us know.  All the information you need is on the contact page.

Liquid Sensors Will Tell All About Your Drinking Habits

One little-discussed feature of the new MacBook and MacBook Pro models is the hidden liquid sensors inside the machine.  I’ve taken a look at the internals, and it appears as though no one will be able to squeeze a liquid spill through the repair queue at the local Apple Store any longer.  On my count, there are 4 liquid sensors near each corner of the machine thus telling the Genius that you’re lying or that unbeknownst to you, someone spilled “water” on your machine at your party last night.  Either way, if previous Apple history is repeated, you can expect them to tell you that your warranty — limited or extended — is void if even one of these sensors touches liquid.

I Broke My iPhone, So I Need A Case

Here’s one that’s a little off our normal pattern of posts but it still provides good insight and helps explain a little more of the iPhone/iPod Touch world. Enjoy!

It’s a heartbreaking, almost shameful experience to use your iPhone with a cracked screen.  But it happens to the best of us… Yes, even me.  Go to your local Apple Store and ask a Genius how many cracked iPhone screens they see a day.  I’m guessing that it’s more than ten, probably nearing 20.  I’m not here to strike fear in your heart because you don’t use a case — I know how great it feels naked — I just want you to be educated when you finally straighten up and protect your investment.  If you think you’re careful, come back and read this post after you’ve paid for your replacement.

Now Playing: Local Movie Show Times and Ratings

CTA RATING: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆
After a brief stint as the controversial Box Office, many movie-goers’ most useful app is back in the App Store but under a different moniker: Now Playing.  We haven’t done a full review on this free app yet, so we thought we’d let you know it was available for free and explain a little bit more about its functionality all in one swing.  Did we mention that it’s free?Â
