Word on the street is that we can expect to see a new set of iPod Touches available within the next month or so.  Our guess is that we’ll see these the same time that we see the mystery product that Apple’s Peter Oppenheimer announced during the quarter three earnings call.  Take this with a grain of salt, but it looks like iPhoneAtlas has found some new product information in the beta release of Apple Mobile Device software 2.1.  It looks like there’s a new reference number for the iPod Touch.  We noticed that, back when iPhone 3G was still a rumor, a new reference number typically meant a model.  We’ll wait and see but it may be worth holding off until September to get that top-of-the-line 32 GB model as some better could come around between now and then.  Check out the link to iPhone Atlas if you want to read the full article.
